HID bulb is a high-pressure gas discharge lamp filled with a mixture of inert gases including xenon, without the filament of halogen bulb. It is also called HID xenon lamp, which can be called metal halide lamp or xenon lamp. Its luminous principle is through the starter and electronic ballast. The xenon gas is broken down by high voltage above 23000V, which causes the gas to arc and emit light between the two electrodes. HID bulbs are divided into automotive xenon lamps and outdoor lighting xenon lamps. 

HID lamp, also known as HID gas discharge headlamp in the automotive lamp field. Instead of the traditional tungsten filament, high-pressure xenon gas encased in quartz tubes provides higher color temperatures and more concentrated lighting. As xenon lamp is a beam of arc light formed by activating xenon gas with high voltage current, it can continuously discharge light between two electrodes. Whereas a typical car tungsten bulb can produce 55 watts of power, a xenon lamp needs 35 watts, nearly half that. Xenon lamps can significantly reduce the burden on vehicle electrical systems. The color temperature of automobile xenon lamp is between 4000K and 6000K, which is much higher than that of ordinary automobile headlamp bulb. It has high brightness, and the light color of 4300K xenon lamp is white and yellow. Because of the low color temperature, the visual effect is yellow, and the light penetration is stronger than the lamp with high color temperature, which can improve the driving safety at night and in foggy weather.HID bulbs are three times brighter than traditional halogen bulbs and last 10 times longer than traditional halogen bulbs.
